In the Know with Emily Ghougassian

Emily Ghougassian shares her journey in the beauty industry and skin prep tips for makeup.

Can you tell us about yourself in a nutshell?

I'm a 37 year old, married to the man of my dreams (cliché I know!), with a beautiful little girl, Laila, who is about to turn 1 year old, a handsome little pooch called Chilli (who is more like our other child) and a violet budgie, called Wesley (crazy bird lady over here!). I am passionate about my family, good skincare, fashion and food - eating and cooking it!

When and why did you get into the makeup industry?

I have always loved beauty, ever since I was a little girl. When I was 20, I started a hairdressing course, which I loved. Due to a personal loss, combined with a back problem, I gave up hairdressing midway through my course and lost my way for a time. A few years later in 2007, I decided to do a makeup course thinking that would be a better option for me, as it's still in the beauty industry and hopefully would be easier on my back. 13 years later, I'm still working in the industry, albeit part time, as my pesky back issue didn't improve!

What are your top tips for skincare prep prior to applying makeup?

Always clean your face, use a good toner, followed by a vitamin C serum, some kind of hydrating serum and sunscreen.

How long have you been using Aspect Skincare and why have you continued to use it?

I was first introduced to the brand around 5 years ago. Simply put, I see results with Aspect. My skin reacts really well to it.

What is your skin type and concerns?

I have combination skin. My main concerns are congestion, melasma and trying to slow down the dreaded ageing process.

What are your morning and night Aspect Skincare regimes?

AM:

Cleanse with Gentle Clean. Followed by Extreme C 20Hydrating Serum, Eyelift 3 and Phytostat 9.

PM:

Cleanse with Gentle Clean. Followed by Eyelift 3, Aspect Dr Hyaluronic Serum, Aspect Dr Complete Pigment Plus and Phytostat 9.

What are your absolute favourite Aspect Skincare products that you can’t live without?

Fruit Enzyme Mask! I'm so obsessed with this product. I use it roughly once every 2 weeks, at night after cleansing and notice such a difference in my skin the next morning.
